Accessibility & Cookies

Accessibility

Pulse is committed to making our website and digital channels accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology.

We aim to meet the internationally recognised Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. In practice, this means we work to ensure our site can be navigated by keyboard, used with screen readers and assistive technologies, presents text at a readable size and contrast, and offers alternative text for meaningful images.

Where we publish audio content, such as our podcast On The Pulse, we aim to make episodes available across mainstream podcast platforms and to provide supporting written material where we can.

Accessibility is something we keep working on rather than treat as finished. If you experience any difficulty using our site, or you need information from it in a different format, please contact us at enquiries@pulserecruit.co.uk and we will do our best to help.

Information about our use of cookies

Our site uses cookies to distinguish you from other users. This helps us to give you a good experience when you browse our site, and it allows us to improve our site.

Under UK law, we are required to obtain your consent before placing or storing non-essential cookies, or similar technologies, on your computer or mobile device. This page provides clear and comprehensive information about the cookies we use and the purposes for which we use them. To understand more about how we process your personal data, please also read our Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of your device. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your device’s hard drive.

Key concepts

First-party and third-party cookies. Whether a cookie is “first” or “third” party refers to the website or domain placing the cookie. First-party cookies are those set by the website you are visiting at the time. Third-party cookies are set by a domain other than the one you are visiting; if you visit our site and another organisation sets a cookie through it, that is a third-party cookie.

Persistent cookies. These cookies remain on your device for a set period specified in the cookie. They are activated each time you visit the website that created them.

Session cookies. These cookies allow a website to link your actions during a single browsing session. A session starts when you open your browser window and ends when you close it. Session cookies are temporary and are deleted once you close your browser.

What cookies do we use and why?

The cookies used on our site fall into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These let you move around the site and use its essential features, such as secure areas and online forms. Without these cookies, services you have asked for cannot be provided. They do not gather information about you for marketing purposes or remember where you have been on the internet. Accepting these cookies is a condition of using the site.
  • Performance and analytics cookies. These collect information about how visitors use our site, for example which pages are visited most often and whether users encounter errors. The information is aggregated and does not identify you individually. We use it only to improve how our site works and to understand what interests our users. Some of these cookies may be managed for us by third parties, such as analytics providers; we do not allow those third parties to use the cookies for any purpose other than those described here.
  • Functional cookies. These allow our site to remember choices you make, such as your preferences, to provide a more personalised experience.
  • Marketing cookies. Where used, these track your visit to our site and may be used to make advertising more relevant to you. These cookies are only placed where you have given your consent.

A detailed list of the specific cookies in use on www.pulserecruit.co.uk, including their names, providers, purpose and duration, is set out in the cookie table below.

[Populate the cookie table once the site build is finalised — this should reflect the actual cookies set, e.g. Google Analytics, consent management platform, embedded media players.]

Managing your cookie preferences

When you first visit our site, you will be shown a cookie banner that allows you to accept or reject non-essential cookies and to set your preferences by category. You can change your preferences at any time using the cookie settings link on our site.

You can also block or delete cookies by changing the settings in your browser. If you use your browser settings to block all cookies, including strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to access all or parts of our site.

Withdrawing your consent

If you wish to withdraw your consent at any time, you can update your choices through our cookie settings link, or delete cookies through your browser settings.

How to turn cookies off in your browser

Internet browsers allow you to change your cookie settings, usually found in the “options”, “settings” or “preferences” menu. Each browser is different, so for instructions specific to yours, use its “Help” option or visit the browser provider’s support pages. Guidance is available for Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari.
